Museum holds annual Antique and Classic Car Show on Aug. 24

On Aug. 24, the Wellington County Museum and Archives is hosting its 33rd annual antique and classic car show. Last year, over 90 cars were parked on the front lawn of the museum.

The Fergus Brass Band will once again welcome the parade of cars at 1pm and those will be on display for the rest of the afternoon.

Visitors can wander the site and enjoy antique and vintage cars and the sounds of music from the 1950s and the ’60s. Hot dogs, cold drinks, and cold treats will be available.

Awards will be given this year to the car with the best interior, best paint job and best in show, as voted by visitors. Also this year in honour of the 100th anniversary of the Ford model T, organizers will giving a special best Ford award.

At 2pm, members of Older Voices, a local historic re-enactors will present Elora and Salem in the Dirty Thirties near the front steps, weather permitting.

Also new this year, the museum is hosting the Canadian Tire travelling NACSAR Fast Track information trailer with a variety of family friendly interactive games and activities including a photo booth, a replica car, Nintendo games, as well as a NASCAR mechanic to answer racing questions.

Organizers suggest bringing a lawn chair for the afternoon. There is a special festival day admission price of $2 per person for the museum, which is located on County Road 18 between Fergus and Elora.

Those who have an antique or classic car and wish to join the parade should assemble at the Fergus Sportsplex by 12:30pm.
