Councillors here support Kincardine’s bid to remove the barriers for international medical doctors as a means of addressing the physician shortage in rural and Northern Ontario.
Councillor David Turton said council has talked about the same issue over the past few years.
He said he is willing to support the resolution providing that the same rules apply to everyone.
Mayor David Anderson said that in the past few years there have been efforts to make it easier for international doctors to practice in Ontario.
“The barriers are not quite as stringent as in the past.”
