Norwell District Secondary School students graduate, earn scholarships Community News StaffJuly 3, 2024 @ 12:30 pmCommunity News Add to Favourites Trent Newton was given the Norwell Valedictorian Award by principal Rowden, and selected to represent the graduating class in delivering the valedictory address. Trent was also the recipient of the Norwell Faculty Prize for embodying characteristics of sincerity, responsibility, honesty, determination and optimism. He ended the night with two more awards, the Norwell Business Scholarship and the Jack McIsaac Memorial Scholarship. Submitted photo Emeline Zemmelink the Carry-On Women’s Institute Scholarship. The award is given to a graduating student who has done well academically and who is pursuing a post-secondary education. Zemmelink also received the Optimist Club Town of Minto Bursary, the Palmerston and District Hospital Auxiliary Bursary, the Palmerston Optometry Scholarship as well as the Olivia Sinclair Memorial Scholarship. The award is given to a student who has excelled in the OYAP program and is pursuing a career in the trades. The criteria for this award included optimism, conscientiousness, insight and responsibility.
