Renovations are ready to proceed at the Mount Forest library after county council awarded the tender at its meeting on June 25.
The winning bid was submitted by Allen-Hastings Limited, of Miller Lake, for $1.24-million, including provincial sales taxes.
The county has the following budget to pay for the $1.6-million project:
– $180,000 from the 2008 capital budget;
– 1.25-million from the 2009 capital budget;
– $50,000 from the library account of the development charges reserve; and
– $311,200 from the property reserve fund.
There were three other companies that supplied bids for the work. Collaborative Structures, of Cambridge, was the only other one considered.
It’s bid was $1.395-million.
One company had an incomplete bid, and the other wanted to extend the construction schedule from five months to nine months.
Both bids were rejected.
