For those who love to capture beauty through photos or video, Sensational Elora has two opportunities for them.
The first is the Sensational Elora photography contest. Organizers invite participants to send up to three photographs each of Elora in a high quality jpeg format.
Photos may include up to 100 words that portray the meaning of the picture and what Elora means to the photographer. Categories for submissions are amateur, professional, or youth (under 16 years of age).
Once all submissions are received, a jury will select finalists and notify them by Sept. 15. Selected photos will be hung at the Elora Centre for the Arts, as well as in various shops and restaurants around Elora during Sensational Elora – Oct.3 to 12.
Prizes will be awarded in each category. The final date for submissions is Sept.1. Participants can enter by emailing their photos to photos@sensationalelora.com, entering them online at www.sensationalelora.com or by mailing them and an entry form to Sensational Elora Photo Contest, PO Box 911, Elora, ON, N0B 1S0.
Film festival
Short Cuts to the Senses: An Amateur Film Festival has two categories to choose from: using smart phones or using digital equipment.
If using smart phones, the participant will send in unedited video clips that are no longer than one minute.
If using digital equipment the participant can edit the short feature or documentary and it must be under five minutes.
Prizes will be awarded for best short feature, best documentary and most promising young filmmaker in both categories. Entries must be submitted by Sept. 15.
To enter, interested filmmakers can fill in the entry form and upload their work at www.sensationalelora.com.
