Council here has okayed a new vet clinic in Alma.
On June 24, councillors approved a bylaw allowing the Franchetto Veterinary Clinic on Elora Street. The property is about 10,560 square feet and contains a dwelling along with a commercial shop in a separate building, with an apartment above it.
The applicants, Duilio and Linda Franchetto, of Elora, plan to locate the vet clinic in the existing shop.
At a previous council meeting the applicants agreed to the restrictions in the bylaw including:
– no boarding of animals overnight, except those that are sick and require intensive care;
– no outdoor kennels; and
– five on-site parking spaces must be provided.
The effect of the bylaw, which was unanimously approved by council, is to amend the site-specific zoning to allow the small vet clinic.
