FERGUS – The Melody Makers started off Seniors Month celebrations with an afternoon of entertainment on June 3. The choir and ukulele band of 40 members performed songs from Canadian composers. They opened the show at Victoria Park Seniors Centre, with O Canada, and ventured through the country covering the classics and humorous hits. Once the band finished, everyone sat down to enjoy cake, ice cream and beverages. As the month of June continues, many more events celebrating seniors will be popping up. “It’s a way to give back and to thank our seniors in our community,” stated centre senior services supervisor Kathryn Morgan. “To recognize seniors in our community, they’ve made Ontario a great place to live and our small community as well.”
