HARRISTON – An evening of sketch comedy and music is in store for audiences of the Grey Wellington Theatre Guild’s next production.
Dubbed Not Your Typical Variety Show, the production is set to hit the stage at the Harriston Town Hall Theatre later this month.
Creator Bob Harron, a long-time guild member, says the show is styled along the lines of old-time television variety shows such as Laugh-In and Hee Haw.
“It’s fresh, and it’s new. And it’s different, something we’ve never done before, in this town … we’ve never had a sketch comedy show,” said Harron.
“It’s just gives the audience another way to experience life theatre.
“It’s kind of a slapsticky … Sometimes off the wall,” he added, and the humour in the show is aimed at adult audiences.
Sketches will be interspersed with local talent acts in a show billed as “an evening of music and accidental comedy.”
The production includes a large cast of actors and music makers from throughout the Grey-Wellington area.
The show runs June 21 and 22 at 7:30pm at the Harriston Town Hall Theatre. Tickets, available at the door, are $15.
