“It was like a walk back in time,” said Wellington North Mayor Mike Broomhead as he told councillors about a recent historical walking tour through Kenilworth.
“I’d never been upstairs in the Catholic Church,” he said, noting the tour had nearly 100 people taking part.
“It was a huge turnout for the walkabout.” He described stepping into a blacksmith’s shop. “It’s unreal, it’s like taking a walk back in time. Some of the stuff hasn’t been touched or altered.” He commented on the old stone wheel and tools used to make wooden wheels and other items.
“Kenilworth has quite a bit of history.”
He noted the sisters from the church told some wonderful stories. Broomhead said other stories were shared by Bert Moore, former reeve of Arthur Township.
“It was one of the best walking tours I’ve been on in a long time.”
