Each year the Fergus Chapter of the IODE presents awards to two students in each of the seven schools in Fergus and Elora.
The award is based on a student’s effort in Language Arts over the entire year, and awarded to a student in Grade 4, 5, or 6 who had demonstrated high proficiency in:
– reading comprehension at or above their grade level;
– written and oral usage of English;
– creative written expression in their writing assignments; and
– enthusiasm for reading.
The book, 50 Ways to Save the Earth, was chosen by the Chapter as an appropriate way to recognize student excellence.
The recipients of the award were:
– Ryan Lloyd and Peter McCracken, of James McQueen School;
– Tina Richards and Ginger LeGrow, of John Black;
– Kassidy Kruger and Jessica Hare, of J.D. Hogarth ;
– Riley Vettor and Emily Deckert, of Victoria Terrace;
– Calee Donovan and Katherine Crawford, of St. Joseph’s;
– Kirston Henley and Alex Kibell, of Elora Public;
– Brianne Leicher and Chloe Trapp, of Salem Public; and
