Preparation underway for 27th annual Children’s Farm and Home Farm Safety Day

WELLINGTON COUNTY – The Waterloo Rural Women Planning Committee toured Riverline Dairy Farm near Baden in preparation for the 27th annual Children’s Farm and Home Farm Safety Day at the farm on June 1. Committee members include, from left, Doreen Shantz, Anne Koch, Sharon Grose, Jean Healey-Martin, Susan Martin, Donna Rogers and Sandi Roth. The event, which includes pizza lunch and snack, will run from 9am to 1pm at Riverline farm, Rick and Erin Koch’s Baden dairy farm. Children ages five through 12 will be divided into small groups and tour each of the stations, including fire safety for farm and home, electrical safety, tractor safety, and large and  small animal safety. Farm kids live where their families work, and often times are not aware of the many hazards on the farm. Farm safety day presenters want to make children aware of dangers and hazards found on farms. Register by calling 519-576-1933 or 519-669-8066.
