Passed away peacefully on May 22nd, 2024 in his 91st year at Wellington Terrace in Fergus. He will be dearly missed by his loving wife Diane (nee Keeling) of over 61 wonderful years. Dad will be deeply missed by his children, Pamela Teesdale (John Maxwell), Richard (late Debbie McNey), and Paul (Wendy), as well as his beloved granddaughter, Hannah. Predeceased by his parents James (Wes) & Margaret (nee Lindsey) Thompson, and his older siblings, Eileen (Ray), Anne (Robert/Walter), and Bob (Mildred). Fondly remembered by his sister-in-law Marilyn, plus many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Gord was born in Willowdale, Ontario where he married and started his family. Learning the carpentry trade from his father, he developed a passion for all things “wood” and enjoyed a successful custom home building & woodworking business. His strong work ethic, creativity, and commitment to family were evident in all that he did. He built his family home on 10 acres near Tottenham, and later retired in Fergus. In his younger years, he enjoyed bowling, hockey, tinkering with cars, and was an avid lifelong fan of all Toronto professional sports teams. Go Jays!! His sense of humour was shared with family and friends, and made for some fun get-togethers! The family would like to thank the caregivers at St. Joseph’s Health Centre in Guelph and most recently at Wellington Terrace in Fergus for their kind and compassionate care of Dad over the last 3 years. Visitation will be held on Friday, May 31st, 2024 at the Graham A. Giddy Funeral Home, 280 St. David St. South, Fergus from 1:30pm- 3:00pm. Reception to be held in the Wellington Room, located on the second floor of the funeral home immediately after the visitation. As expressions of sympathy, donations in Gord’s memory may be made to the Alzheimer Society of Waterloo Wellington, St. Joseph’s Health Centre, or Wellington Terrace.
