PALMERSTON – Minto council has approved a tender of $2.45 million for Derby Street reconstruction in Palmerston.
Triton Engineering Services Limited reviewed three bids ranging between $2.45 and $2.5 million.
The consultant recommended St. Jacobs-based Steed and Evans Limited, the lowest of the bids.
According to a May 21 staff report, conflicts during the design phase of the project resulted in bid prices totaling higher than the estimated $1.87 million.
The original budget of $1.87 million needed was increased by $670,000 to fit the total tender price.
The funding is provided from Minto’s wastewater capital water capital reserves, as well as the Ontario Community Infrastructure Fund.
The project is expected to be completed at the end of October, with the possibility of stretching into November, according to roads and drainage manager Mike McIsaac.
Construction will be located between Toronto and York streets in Palmerston.
Council unanimously approved road work tender.
