FERGUS – St. Joseph Catholic School in Fergus hosts a Heart and Stroke Fundraiser every year. Students in kindergarten through Grade 3 do Jump Rope for Heart, and students in Grades 4 through 8 do Hoops for Heart (basketball). The students learn important research that is needed for the Heart and Stroke Foundation and reasons to raise money to support the cause during two assemblies.
The school set a goal of $3,000 this year, and promised the students that if they reached the goal, the seven students who raised the most money would get to pie a St. Joseph staff member in the face.
The school doubled its goal this year, raising over $6,000, and students celebrated by throwing pies in teachers’ faces.
