Glen Allan residents will likely be pleased to know the township has made some progress in addressing the “major” safety issues they identified last month.
Mayor John Green said he has talked to the county about the speed limit on County Road 45 and he would talk to the OPP about increased enforcement along that road.
Residents had identified speeding along that route as a problem when they visited council on May 27.
Public Works Manager Larry Lynch said another problem identified by the residents – “overgrown” trees and shrubs on Sideroad 17 – has been addressed.
Staff has trimmed back that foliage, he said.
And Lynch had previously stated he would ensure the lines on Sideroad 17 were re-painted this year, as there is over $15,000 in the 2008 budget for line painting.
He added that his department has also removed some of the obsolete equipment in the park and has prepared to move some other equipment.
Also, Lynch noted, he has talked to county staff about the other problems residents mentioned.
Green said whatever the township and county do, he wants to ensure Glen Allan looks good by August, because the hamlet will be hosting a celebration that month in honour of its coloured heritage.
