The focus will be on butterfly natural history, capture techniques, field identification, tagging, migration and creating and maintaining butterfly habitat. The workshop will be led by guest entomologist Jessica Grealey.

The registration fee is $50 per adult and the deadline is July 2. For more information or to register call The Arboretum at 824-4120, extension 52358.

Shorebirds

If people are up for a challenge, a Shorebirds workshop awaits.

Shorebirds are among the most difficult group of birds to identify and The  Arboretum, is presenting a Shorebirds workshop on July 23 from 9am to 4pm to help with that  identification.

Using plumage, shape, size, calls, and behaviour, participants will try to figure out all of those confusing sandpipers, plovers, phalaropes, turnstones, knots, godwits, and whimbrels.  The workshop will be led by naturalist, Chris Earley.

The registration fee is $50 per adult and the deadline to register is July 9. For more information or to register call The Arboretum at 824-4120, extension 52358.
