GUELPH – An Erin man was arrested following a hit-and-run collision last Thursday night.
On May 9 at about 10:20pm several witnesses reported seeing a pickup truck strike an SUV in a parking lot on Woodlawn Road West before driving away.
“One witness said the driver of the pickup appeared to be drinking a beer,” Guelph Police stated in a press release.
“An officer located and stopped the pickup a short distance away and noted alcohol on the driver’s breath. He conducted a roadside breath test which resulted in a warning and (the officer also) located an open can of beer beside the driver’s seat.”
A 28-year-old Erin man is charged with failing to stop at an accident and driving with open alcohol. His licence was suspended for three days and he is to appear in Guelph court on June 18.
