MINTO – For the first time in over two years, the Town of Minto will soon have a full-time, permanent chief administrative officer (CAO).
The municipality announced on May 7 that Gregory Furtney has been hired to fill the position, starting June 10.
Town officials say Furtney has “a wealth of experience and knowledge” from previous jobs as director of public works and facilities in North Huron and as director of infrastructure and development for St. Joseph’s Healthcare and Lifecare centres.
“On behalf of council and staff, I would like to welcome Gregg to the Town of Minto,” Mayor Dave Turton stated in the town press release.
“Gregg’s experience in the municipal field and his leadership abilities will fit in perfectly with staff.”
Furtney said “it is an honour” to be selected to lead the town.

For the past two years, Director of Fire Services Chris Harrow and deputy treasurer Mark Potter have shared the town’s top staff position.
They were appointed co-CAOs on April 5, 2022, after previous CAO Derrick Thomson accepted a position with the County of Bruce that March.
Thomson joined Minto staff in January of 2020, filling the vacancy created by the retirement of former CAO/clerk Bill White in December of 2018.
