ARTHUR – A local man was charged with meth possession after police investigated a vehicle here in the early morning.
Wellington County OPP officials say officers responded to a “suspicious vehicle complaint” on George Street in Arthur on March 2 at about 3:15am.
“It was reported that a white [SUV] had been parked and running for two hours,” police stated in an April 30 press release.
Conor Mitchel Scratcher, 27, of Arthur, was charged with possession of a Schedule 1 substance for the purpose of trafficking (methamphetamine). He was to appear in Guelph court on April 26.
It’s not clear why it took police nearly two months to report the incident to the media.
Drug charges for driver
GUELPH/ERAMOSA – A Guelph man charged earlier this year with impaired and dangerous driving following a serious collision is now also facing drug charges.
On Feb. 16 at about 7pm, emergency crews responded to a four-vehicle crash on Wellington Road 51 in Guelph/Eramosa.
“One person was transported to a local hospital with serious injuries,” Wellington County OPP stated in a press release.
Jagger Arthur Francis Doyle, 25, of Guelph, was charged at the time with impaired driving and dangerous driving.
On May 6, the OPP announced he was also charged with possession of a Schedule III substance for the purpose of trafficking, possession of cannabis for the purpose of distributing and possession of cannabis for the purpose of selling.
He was to appear in Guelph court on May 7.
Teen charged in hit, run
CENTRE WELLINGTON – On March 2 at about 7pm, Wellington County OPP responded to a hit-and-run collision on Wellington Road 16 at Sideroad 20.
“It was reported that a grey sedan was struck by a white pickup truck … that fled the collision,” police stated in an April 30 press release.
An 18-year-old driver from Fergus faces four charges, including failing to report an accident, failing to yield to traffic on a highway and being a G1 licence holder not accompanied by a qualified driver.
