The township’s Chief Building Official is very pleased with the amount of construction projects in Mapleton thus far this year.
“Our activity continues to amaze me,” CBO Jim Baker told council last week of the high demand his department is experiencing.
He said the last couple of months have been “phenomenal” for his department, and he noted he still has about 25 permits waiting for approval.
In his monthly report to council, Baker explained that there were 35 permits issued in April for a total project value of just over $3-million.
Such totals also help boost revenue for the department
Those figures are up 67% and 86% respectively over last April’s totals of 21 and about $1.6-million.
And last month’s fees were up over 100% over April 2007, as the township collected $29,353 last month.
Year-to-date totals for the number of permits issued (74), total construction value ($8.94-million), and fees ($71,717) are also well above last year’s totals of 64, $5.74-million, and $35,330 respectively.
