Passed away peacefully at Hospice Wellington in Guelph on Sunday, April 21st, with family by his side, at the age of 90. Predeceased by his loving wife, Elizabeth (nee Mackenzie) (2022). Survived by his brother Don Pearse, his children; Michael (Debra), Michelle (Carl), Marilyn (Fernando) (2006) and Mark, his grandchildren; Timothy, Anthony, Jody (Paul), Brady, Christopher, Nicholas, Brittany (Josh), Brandon, Matthew (Iva) and Amber (Shawn), and his great grandchildren; Emerson, Grace, Skylar, Scarlett, Willow, Nora, Chloe and Taylor. Predeceased by his parents, Ernie and Lily Pearse, sister-in-law Elaine Pearse, parents-in-law Alex and Bessie Mackenzie, brothers-in-law Jim and Dorothy Mackenzie, Jack and Shirley Mackenzie and sister-in-law Jean and Howard Harrison. Ray will be missed by many nieces and nephews. Ray will be remembered for his many outstanding accomplishments. He was a retired veteran of the Royal Canadian Navy (25 years), a three time Master of Mercer Lodge 347 AF & AM, and a longtime member and past President of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 275 in Fergus. Visitation was held at the Graham A. Giddy Funeral Home, 280 St. David Street South, Fergus on Monday, April 29th from 7-9pm. A memorial service took place on Tuesday, April 30th at 11am in the Funeral Home Chapel, with 1 hour of visitation to be held prior to the service, from 10-11am. Immediately after the service, interment took place at Belsyde Cemetery. Following the service and interment, guests were invited to the Fergus Legion Branch 275, 500 Blair Street, for a time of fellowship and refreshments. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Ray may be made to Hospice Wellington, and are greatly appreciated by the family.
