HARRISTON – Michael Van Huisseling, an environmental educator with Solid Waste Services at the County of Wellington, was a speaker at the Harriston and District Horticultural Society’s meeting on April 17. Van Huisseling brought with him a number of types of composters, including a Doggie Dooley, and explained the need for both green and brown materials to produce the best compost in your backyard composter. Plans are well underway for the society’s 21st Annual Garden Festival on June 1 at the Harriston Community Centre Pavillion area from 8am to 1pm. And its next meeting will be the flower show on May 15 at the Harriston Community Centre, with speaker Lior Stewart speaking on “The Herbal Tea Garden.” All are welcome.
