15th annual Donkey Day runs on June 8

The Donkey Sanctuary of Canada will be hosting its 15th annual Donkey Day on June 8 here.

The open house will provide families with the opportunity to spend a day with the donkeys and experience life on the farm. Proceeds will go toward the care of over 50 donkeys at the Sanctuary, which has been providing lifelong homes to rescued donkeys.

“Donkey Day provides us with the ability to open up the farm to the public and educate families about how sweet and gentle donkeys can truly be,” said Sandra Pady, Executive Director of the Donkey Sanctuary of Canada. She said most of the donkeys have come from poor homes, and this is usually because their owners were not knowledgeable about proper handling and management techniques.

Included in the celebration will be musicians, dancers, a puppet show, and arts and crafts, as well as a demonstration by special guest Ron Chauvin on natural horsemanship pertaining to donkeys.

Donkey Day runs at 6981 Puslinch Concession 4 from 11am to 4pm. Admission for adults is $10, and $5 for those 3 to 18. For more information please call 519-836-1697 or visit www.thedonkeysancturary.ca.
