On April 9, 2024, surrounded by her family, Doris Evelyn Woodruff (nee Cathcart) passed peacefully in her 98th year. Doris was born at home in 1926 in St. George-de-Beauce, QC. She met and married Pilot Officer Merrill Emerson Woodruff in 1945, and they had a long and loving marriage until his passing in 2005. She was deeply loved and is survived by her children, Mary Elaine Cadell, Ann Cathcart Woodruff, and Susan Emily Woodruff. Known as Nanny and Gramma GG, she will also be missed by her six grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild. Special thanks and recognition goes out to her eldest grandchild, Kate Busse, for the wonderful love, care, and compassion provided to her grandmother. Doris was a lifelong learner, earning her BA in Geriatrics from the University of Waterloo. She worked with seniors at the Breithaupt Centre in Kitchener for a number of years. Her life was filled with the joy of her family and friends, world travel, an insatiable appetite for books and antiques, and a heartfelt love of gardening. Doris’ family would like to extend a special thank you to Dr. John Stickney for his extraordinary care of Doris and her family. They also wish to thank Tina, Megan, and the staff of Heritage River Retirement Home, Samantha and Leanne from Bayshore Homecare Solutions, and Brad Clark of Waterloo Wellington Care Partners for their compassion and care of Doris during these last few months. Thanks also to Reverend Cannon Paul J. Walker. Cremation and interment have taken place.
