CALEDON – Four people from Brampton, Mono, Caledon and Mississauga have been charged in a drug bust following a two-month investigation involving several OPP detachments, including Wellington County.
Caledon OPP officials announced the drug trafficking charges on April 10.
Police say that starting in February, the Caledon OPP Community Street Crime Unit (CSCU) “utilized a variety of investigative techniques and were assisted by multiple CSCUs, including City of Kawartha Lakes, Dufferin, Muskoka, Nottawasaga, Orillia, and Wellington County.”
The press release also noted search warrants “were executed at five locations and upon a motor vehicle,” though police did not identify those locations.
Police say officers seized: about 45 grams of fentanyl, 10g of cocaine, 1.5g of methamphetamine, 2,304 codeine pills, 177 hydromorphone pills, 60 morphine pills, 13 diazepam pills, digital scales and cell phones, $2,345 in Canadian currency and a 2018 BMW M2 (seized as proceeds of crime).
Four people were charged:
– a 22-year-old from Brampton, with three counts of possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking;
– 23-year-old from Mono, trafficking a Schedule I substance (fentanyl), two counts of failing to comply with a release order and five counts of possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking;
– 25-year-old from Mississauga, possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime (under $5,000), possession of a Schedule I substance (methamphetamine) and four counts of possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking; and
– 31-year-old from Caledon, possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking.
The accused are to appear in court at a later date.
Five charged with fraud
WELLINGTON NORTH – Police have charged five people after a Wellington North business lost nearly $400,000 due to fraud.
Wellington County OPP officials stated in an April 16 press release that several cheques were stolen from the business in December 2022 “and cashed illegally.”
Police did not identify the business targeted.
Charged with fraud (over $5,000) are: Istvan Dolanyi, 44, of Richmond Hill; Klauidia Fajko, 26, of Toronto; Anita Lakai, 35, of North York; Elemerne Olah, 63, of North York; and Geoffrey Cowman, 69, of Richmond, BC.
