GUELPH – Trees for Guelph has some dates planned for community tree plantings and everyone is welcome officials state.
All plantings start at 9:30am and run until 12:30pm, except on April 27, rain or shine or snow.
Spring dates include:
– April 27, Hanlon Creek Forest 9am to 2pm;
May 4, Norm Jary Park 9:30am to 12:30pm; and
May 11, Grange Road Park 9:30am to 12:30 pm.
You can also save the dates for these fall plantings:
– Sept. 28, 9:30am to 12:30pm;
– Oct. 5, 9:30am to 12:30pm; and
Oct. 19, 9:30am to 12:30pm.
Bring a friend or your whole family. Drop by for as long as you can. Plant one tree or plant them all.
Planting technique demonstrations run continuously throughout the planting sessions so come for as little or as long as you can.
Learn all the techniques to plant for high survival rates.
Register on site on the day at the welcome table or RSVP on the group’s social media events page.
High school students looking for volunteer hours are invited to bring their log sheet to any Saturday plant.
School program
Planting coordinators Moritz Sanio and Bill Gaines will be facilitating the learning-by-doing tree planting program five days a week with Guelph students from late April until late May.
Take Root
It’s back. Last year the Take Root residential planting initiative exceeded all expectations.
There are opportunities for community and youth groups wanting to engage with the 2024 Take Root program.
Tree distribution is on May 10 and 11 at Riverside Park.

Team building with tree planting
On top of the other spring planting dates, there will be a special planting session on April 22 between 9am and 5pm. Come and plant trees on Earth Day.
“We bring all the plants and gear. You and your work mates bring the energy and gardening gloves,” officials state.
