Badenoch 4-H club finished with sewing

The Badenoch 4-H Spectacular Super Sewers have completed their meetings.

Everyone cut, pinned, machine stitched, and stuffed until all bears were ready for final inspection. Each member completed three Teddy bears. Now there are a dozen new Teddy bear families in the community.

Some bears are going to stay with their creators while others are going to be given as gifts. During meeting five, Mrs. Hunter showed us how to make colourful pillow cases that are very easy to make. The pillow case project is called “Con Kerr Cancer – a case for smiles.”

It was developed in the U.S. where many brightly coloured pillow cases have been made and donated to cancer patients. During our final meeting the last Teddy bears were completed and we learned how to turn a one litre mason jar into a sewing box. We used a glue gun to attach batting and some pretty material to the lid so that now we had a pin cushion on top and a jar to put thread, scissors, stitch ripper, tape measure and other sewing needs in.

Our last outing was a trip to a store in Cambridge to see craft ideas and materials available.
