Wilkinson announces $75,000 for new splash pad in Palmerston

The Palmerston Lions Club will receive $75,000 from the Ontario Trillium Foundation to assist with its Heritage Park project.

Perth-Wellington MPP John Wilkinson made the announcement last week. He was joined by Spencer Finch, Ontario Trillium grant review team member.

“I am delighted that the Palmerston Lions Club is receiving this Ontario Trillium Foundation funding,” Wilkinson said.  “This substantial provincial support, combined with the excellent work of the local Lions Club members, will help to ensure our rural youth have an opportunity to enjoy healthy, active outdoor activities at the new splash pad.”

Bob Emerson, chairman of the Heritage Park committee, said, “On behalf of the Palmerston Lions Club, I would like to express our delight at receiving this grant of $75,000, which will enable the club and community to install an exiting new splash pad for our area youth.

“We thank the Town of Minto and MPP John Wilkinson for their support and this opportunity. The Palmerston Lions Club will now be able to move forward with another element of the Heritage Park project.”

Minto Mayor David Anderson said, “This is another positive result of the municipalities and the provincial government working together to make our communities healthier places to live. The more community involvement there is, the more we all benefit achieving this goal.

The Ontario Trillium Foundation is an agency of the government of Ontario.
