To celebrate May is Museum Month the Wellington County Museum and Archives is hosting Dr. Stephen Thorning’s presentation, The Beatty Brothers and the making of 20th Century Fergus at 1:30pm on May 13.
The illustrated presentation will include photographs and research from the recent GSW archival donation.
The lecture, along with the museum’s new exhibit, Small Town Giant: The Beatty Brothers of Fergus 1874-1964, will be of interest to retired Beatty employees as well as local residents familiar with the company.
Refreshments will be served and admission is free.
May 18 is recognized as International Museum Day and the Wellington County Museum and Archives will again be offering free admission during regular hours of operation.
For students of Guelph and Wellington County, the museum is hosting its second Canada at War; the Guelph-Wellington Experience on May 15.
That is a full day of presentations by historic re-enactors depicting various military conflicts over time. For the second year in a row the museum has the event funded in part by the Canada Remembers Fund of Veterans Affairs.
