Rehearsals are under way at Century Church Theatre here for Looking, the witty new comedy by Norm Foster, Canada’s most popular playwright.
Directed by Neville Worsnop, and starring Century veterans Elizabeth Glenday, Tamara Kunder, Wayne Moore, and Frank Rempel, the show plays July 15 to 25.
The contemporary play chronicles four middle-aged characters’ desperate, yet funny, searching for a meaningful relationship. Rejecting a friend’s suggestion of topless beaches, cruises, and funerals as sure-fire pick-up places, Andy opts for the Personals column. His ad is answered by Val, who fears that after two more celibate years she will regain her virgin status.
When each takes a friend along on the first date, the scene is set for a series of hilarious encounters that will appeal to any age.
The show runs July 15 to 25, at 2:30pm on Wednesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays, and at 8pm on Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays. Tickets are $22 to $27, inclusive of all taxes and charges, with group discounts, and can be reserved by calling the box office at 519-855-4586. For more details, visit www.centurychurchtheatre.com.
