On March 26, 2024, Harold Grange Dodwell, cherished husband, father, grandpa, brother, and friend, passed away at the age of 83 at St. Mary’s Hospital, Kitchener. He was born to Ivy and Richard Dodwell in Toronto, Ontario, on September 22, 1940. Harold graduated from George Harvey Vocational School. He was a member of the Illustrious Sea Cadets Corps based in Weston, Ontario, and a sub-lieutenant in the Naval Reserves. Later, he worked for the Ontario Ministry of Transportation for 32 years until his retirement in 2000. Harold met his beloved wife of 59 years, Katherine (née Maahs), when they both worked for CP Rail, in Toronto. Harold enjoyed spending time on his many hobbies, including wood carving, winemaking, and gardening. He also loved spending time with his family, travelling, going to car shows, reading, and bike rides. He was an active member of Knox Presbyterian Church in Elora, and the Victoria Park Seniors Centre in Fergus. Harold was predeceased by his parents and brothers Norman, Derek and George. He is survived by his wife Katherine; sons Glen (Laurie) and Hugh (Jessica); grandchildren Beth (Daniel), Julie, and Anderson; brother David (Sandy-deceased); and other family members and friends who miss him dearly. Visitation will be held on Friday, April 5th from 2-4pm and 7-9pm at the Graham A. Giddy Funeral Home, 280 St. David Street South, Fergus. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, April 6th at 11am in the funeral home chapel. Following the service, guests are invited upstairs to the Wellington Room for a time of fellowship and refreshments. Elevator access is available. Interment will take place at a later date.
