STAHLBAUM, Frederick P.

Frederick Percival Stahlbaum passed away peacefully at Guelph General Hospital on Saturday, March 16, 2024, at the age of 83. Fred was the beloved son of the late Frederick and Edna Stahlbaum (nee Cox) and a loving husband for over 51 years to Jean (nee Barclay). He is also survived by Kenny (Sue), Amber (Chris), Justin (Chelsea) and Drew and Waverly. He was a dear brother to Murray (Cheryl Plakholm), sister Jane Laur and sisters-in-law (Barbara) Jean Stahlbaum, Joyce Barclay, Helen Chester, Margaret Huntley. As well as several nieces and nephews. Also, cherished by John McKessock and many special friends. Predeceased by his sisters Joyce Sovari (Bill) Marilyn Brent (Doug), and brother Jim Stahlbaum. Mother-in-law Mary Barclay, brother-in-law Roland Laur & Bob Barclay & Dale Huntley. Sisters-in-law Cheryl Stahlbaum (Miller) and Heather Stahlbaum (Cherry). Fred was a Navy veteran and proudly served his country for five years. He was a longtime member of the Federation of Anglers and Hunters, a member of the Guelph Royal City Fishing Club, a member of the Hespeler Legion Branch 272, a board member for the Hespeler Heritage Centre, a member of The Wellington Stewardship & Mill Creek Watershed liaison, and a volunteer at St. Andrews Hespeler Presbyterian Church Thursday Night Social Dinners. Fred was a valued employee at General Electric/ABB in Guelph for 33 years until retirement. His commitment, kindness, and unwavering dedication to his community and nation will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him. A celebration of Fred’s life will be held on Sunday, April 21, 2024, at the Hespeler Legion Branch 272, 26 Schofield St., Cambridge, Ontario, N3C 1Y3. The celebration of life will begin at 1pm, with a service in the hall at 1:30pm. In lieu of flowers, donations in Fred’s memory may be made to the Poppy Fund c/o Hespeler Legion Branch 272, The Ontario Federation of Anglers and Hunters, Hespeler Heritage Centre, or the Guelph General Hospital Emergency Department.
