Terry Hryhor jokes that he used to spend so much time at the East Wellington Advisory Group building that his wife thought he had a girlfriend named EWAG.
But Hryhor, one of three inductees to Erin’s Wall of Fame recognized by council on March 18, said he really enjoyed the work there.
Mayor Rod Finnie said while he first met Hryhor when the town first started work on the EWAG building, Hryhor’s involvement with the non-profit organization has spanned generations.
“ I really appreciate all the work you’ve done,” Finnie told the long-time volunteer.
The mayor also thanked fellow Wall of Fame inductees Patrick Suessmuth and the Latam family, represented at the meeting by Kevin Latam.
Finnie said whenever anything is needed in Hillsburgh, “The Latams are always there [to help].” He added, “I appreciate your family’s commitment.”
As for Suessmuth, he is constantly involved in Sports and can be seen regularly dedicating his time with local youths at Main Place, Finnie told the crowd.
“You live there, I think,” Finnie said with a laugh. “And we want to thank you a lot for that.”
The Erin Wall of Fame, located at Centre 2000, recognizes individuals who have selflessly donated their time to contribute something to the community, often over many years or even decades.
“These are fine contributors to our community,” Finnie said, recognizing the latest members of the prestigious Wall, whom he added, are a fine example of what makes Erin such a great place to live.
