FERGUS – Centre Wellington District High School’s junior girls’ volleyball team finished the regular season in third place. They went on to upset Centennial CVI in the semi-finals in three straight sets, and Bishop MacDonnell in three straight sets during the D10 final that took place at the University of Guelph on Feb. 20. The win gave the team a berth to the CWOSSA Championships at RIM park on Feb. 23. After a three-way tie for first place in their round robin pool, the Falcons finished in first place based on tie-breaking procedures. They then went on to play Monsignor Doyle in the semi-finals. The Falcons rallied from a 24-19 deficit in the first set to win 26-24. CW then went on to win the next set, catapulting the girls to the finals against Cameron Heights CI. The CW squad did well in the final game but came up short losing the fourth set 26 to 24.
