FERGUS – The Catholic Women’s League (CWL) at St. Joseph’s Parish in Fergus will be celebrating its 100th anniversary on March 14.

A dinner and reception is to follow.
The CWL at St. Joseph’s Parish has been “a beacon of faith, service and sisterhood” for a century.
As the league marks its centennial milestone, officals says it’s an opportune time to reflect on the group’s remarkable journey, its contributions to the community and the dedicated women who have shaped its history.
Founded in 1924, the CWL was established with the vision of empowering women to actively participate in the life of the church and the local community.
Over the past 100 years, the league has grown from a handful of women to a formidable force, promoting spiritual development, service and social justice.
The early years saw the CWL focus on fostering a sense of community among the parishioners, organizing events that brought families together in prayer and celebration.
As the years progressed, the league expanded its scope to engage in various charitable endeavors and community service projects.
Throughout the years, the Catholic Women’s League at St. Joseph’s Parish has been a pillar of support for the less fortunate, actively participating in initiatives to alleviate poverty and assist those in need, officals note.
Whether through food drives, community service projects or organizing fundraisers for charitable causes and supporting Catholic education, the league has consistently demonstrated its commitment to the principles of charity and compassion.
The CWL’s impact extends beyond the borders of St. Joseph’s Parish.
Many of its members have been actively involved in regional and national initiatives including issues affecting the broader Catholic community as well as advocating for social justice and women’s rights.
The celebration of the Catholic Women’s League at St. Joseph’s Parish is an affirmation of a commitment to continue serving the community for generations to come.
As the league enters its next century, the women of St. Joseph’s Parish are poised to carry forward the torch of faith, service and sisterhood.
