The family of Harold James Drimmie is deeply saddened to share that he passed away on February 10, 2024. Patricia, his loving wife of 70 years will miss the many laughs they shared and has a lifetime of wonderful memories of their times together with both family and friends to hold dear. Harold is one of five children and leaves behind a close sister and friend in Bettie Garvin. His late brothers, Corley and Kenneth, and youngest sister Kathy died in earlier years. Harold’s love of family was further fostered through his children Stephen (predeceased), Terry and Bobbi, Michelle and Ken. Times spent playing with and guiding his grandchildren were always his highlight. Missing him are grandchildren, Norm and Amy (Drimmie), Terry Jay and Christine (Drimmie), Tracey and Al, Chrystal (Ingerman), Keegan and Maryanne (Miller), and Devon and Anna Lise (Miller) as well as seven great-grandchildren. The group assembled for holidays, birthdays, and just for visits too. Harold lived a full life extending his learning in the early years at Wilfrid Laurier University before returning to Elora to work alongside his brothers and father in running Drimmie’s Mill. The family later opened Drimmie’s Building Ltd. Always a community supporter: Harold was a member of the Elora United Church and active on the Elora Fire Department. Duty often called for rising in the early hours or leaving the Mill to assist those in difficulty. His work with the Lion’s Club led him to many enjoyable hours building the Grand River Boardwalk. Together with Pat they later enjoyed many hours walking the boardwalk and visiting with neighbours while resting on one of the park benches. He was also a familiar face at the holiday fireworks, as well as canvassing for charities or organizing the next parade. Pat and Hal enjoyed a wide circle of friends and traveled extensively-often with the “No Whiner’s Club”. When out with friends, guests at neighbouring tables were known to ask if they could join their table, as they seemed to be having so much fun. Hal remained close with the same group of close friends from his early boyhood. Friends and family also joined Pat and Hal at their Florida home to partake in the sunshine during our cold winter months. The family invites friends to join them, Saturday, March 2nd, 2024 from 2 pm – 4 pm at the Wellington County Museum & Archives in Aboyne Hall (0536 Wellington Rd 18, Fergus, ON N1M 2W3).
