Don Ross is resigning as director of the Saugeen Valley Conservation Authority.
In the position, Ross represented both the Township of Wellington North and the Town of Minto.
Wellington North is prepared for the appointment to be brought forward from Minto for a director to serve the remaining term [until December 2010].
However Wellington North Mayor Mike Broomhead wants a chance to interview the candidate prior to the appointment to ensure the needs of his own municipality will be met.
Minto council hopes for the name to be brought forward at this week’s meeting.
Minto Mayor David Anderson spoke recently with Ross, who explained the decision was made because of conflicting meetings scheduled for the local LHIN [Local Health Integration Network] and the SVCA.
Therefore Ross made the decision to resign once this year’s SVCA budget is dealt with. While Anderson did have a particular person in mind as a replacement, he said he intended to bring the name forward at the Feb. 20 meeting – to allow other names to be put on the floor.
