ELORA – Tree Trust, a program of the Elora Environment Centre, has hired Braedon Witt as its program manager.
With experience in community-based tree initiatives and wildlife education, Witt’s appointment marks a significant advance for the organization as it strives to educate, save and protect mature trees.
In his previous position as an urban forest researcher, Witt played a pivotal role in conducting a comprehensive tree inventory for the Town of the Blue Mountains, officials say.
And as a wildlife educator, Witt provided a positive learning environment for citizens to engage with often under-appreciated species, officials added.
Witt has a master’s degree in forest conservation from the University of Toronto, where he received the 2023 T.W. Dwight Prize for academic excellence.
With Witt on board, Tree Trust will be able to push its mission of tree protection to a new level, officials say, with new and effective programs for all of the seven Tree Trust chapters.
“I am thrilled to join the team at Tree Trust, which is making a meaningful contribution to tackling the climate crisis and tree education,” said Witt.
