GUELPH – Hospice Wellington is hosting its first “Retro Royale” winter fundraiser at the Delta Hotel by Marriot in Guelph on Feb. 15 with a retro ‘80s theme.
The theme is inspired by Hospice Wellington being established in 1980.
The Retro Royale will be focussing on Hospice Wellington’s Caring for the Caregiver fund, which shines a light on the role of caregiver programs it provides.
“[It’s] a fund that’s quite important for helping us be able to continue our programming and services that we do for caregivers, for people who have a loved one in the residence or [at] home that they’re helping take care of,” said Phil Gourlay, events planner at Hospice Wellington.
The event includes live and silent auctions with prizes such as a trip to Mexico, Portugal and Toronto. Other prizes include a Louis Vuitton handbag, electronics and a Ms. Pac-Man arcade machine to name a few.
For $20, there will be a wine wall where attendees will pick out a bag, and inside will be a bottle of wine worth $20, $75 or $100 that will be taken home at the end of the night.
“Everybody that gets one of these bags with a wine bottle in it, they are automatically entered into a draw where one winner will get a wine fridge,” explained Gourlay.
Mystery envelopes is another activity that has mystery gift cards with $20 to $100 value.
For $20, attendees can purchase an envelope to see what lies inside.
These are just few of the many activities available at this year’s Retro Royale, along with a room of ‘80s arcade games and themed food, candy, drinks and music.
Tickets to the event are $120 per person or $1,000 for a table of 10 with all ticket sales going toward the Caring for the Caregiver fund.
The event will have its doors open at 6pm, and the event will end at approximately 9:30pm.
