77, of Fergus, passed away on January 11th, 2024. Janis is survived by her loving children, Roger Dammeier (Julie) of Fergus, Jeff Dammeier (Colleen) of Belleville, and Sherry Taylor of Fergus. By her brother-in-law Doug Hill, sister-in-law Wendy Allen and by her brother John Allen. She will be sadly missed by her grandchildren, Cassidy Taylor, Logan Taylor, Dylan Dammeier, and Cole Dammeier. As well as by her nieces and nephews Carolyn Hill, Lorraine Diaz, Nicole Allen, and Mark Allen. Janis was predeceased by her parents Maldwyn and Eileen Allen, sister Bronwyn Hill and nephew James Hill. Janis was a life-long resident of Centre Wellington, growing up in Belwood, and graduated from the Fergus High School. She then worked as a switch operator at Bell Canada in Guelph, before working at the Scotia Bank. Janis then raised her three children on the outskirts of Alma, volunteered at the local food bank, as well as with the Groves Hospital Volunteer Association for over 10 years, achieving the Long Service Award. She was a life-long Beetles fan and an avid supporter of the Toronto Blue Jays. Funeral service will be held at the Graham A. Giddy Funeral Home in Fergus on January 19th, 2024 with visitation starting at 1pm followed by a service at 2:00pm. A reception will be held upstairs at the funeral home immediately following the service. Memorial donations may be made to Groves Community Hospital (Groves Memorial Community Hospital (gmch.ca)) or the Canadian Cancer Society (https://support.cancer.ca). The family wishes to extend their gratitude to the staff at Wellington Terrace for the care and support they provided Janis in her final months.
