FERGUS – The Spindrift Wind Quartet will begin the Gallery Concert season for 2024 with concerts at Melville United Church on Jan. 21 and Feb. 11.
Melville United Church is located at 300 St. Andrew St. W., Fergus.
“With the worst of COVID behind us we can now reflect on what it meant – especially for musicians,” officials state in a press release.
“It was very difficult to be a player of a wind instrument. You cannot wear a mask and play, never mind blow air through an instrument unrestricted. But it was a time to be creative.”
Formed online
The Spindrift Wind Quartet was formed as a strictly online ensemble, playing together live while never leaving their own homes.
They are now going to share their experience and their music.
With two clarinets, horn and bassoon, lots of interesting music can be played, from Renaissance through to 20th century jazz.
The concerts are jointly sponsored by the Wellington County Museum and Archives and the Elora Arts Council.
Tickets, at $10 per person, can be purchased at the door.
There will be coffee post performance and time to meet with the musicians.
The concerts begin at 2pm.
