Passed away peacefully, with his loving family by his side, at Guelph General Hospital on Sunday, December 31, 2023 in his 79th year. Beloved husband of Donna (née Boltz) of 54 years. Loving father of Carolyn LaCosse and husband Pat, John Padfield and wife Aline, and Anne Smith and husband Ryan. Proud grandfather of Laura and Eleanor LaCosse, Renée and Chloé Padfield, Harrison and Olivia Smith. Predeceased by his parents Lewis and Viola (née Bishop) Padfield and infant son Lewis Padfield. Brian was the founder of Coldwell Banker Padfield Realty and the former longtime owner of Padfield Insurance. A 50-year member of the Grey Bruce Real Estate Board, he was the Chairman of the Economic Development Committee for over 25 years and a former Justice of the Peace. An avid hunter and angler in his younger days, lover of nature, longtime Kinsmen Club member. A lover of German Shorthaired Pointers, Brian was a teller of many stories and a traveller of many back gravel roads. Brian loved Mount Forest and his farm in Egremont Township, where he lived for 54 years. Most of all he loved his family. Visitation was held at the England Funeral Home, 294 Main Street South, Mount Forest on Wednesday, January 3, 2024 from 2:00-4:00 and 6:00 – 8:00pm. A funeral service will be held at Mount Forest United Church, 175 Queen Street, Mount Forest on Thursday, January 4th at 11:00am with visitation from 10:00 – 10:45am.
