Local artist brings exhibit to Harriston gallery

Have you ever wondered how a farmer sees her world?

Well, the Minto Heritage Gallery is offering an opportunity to see the unique perspective of a countrywoman and artist.

Linda Glass Ward presents My View from the Country:  A Retrospective at the Minto Heritage Gallery.

Glass Ward and her husband have run a horse farm and riding stable in Minto since 1985, but that is only part of her story. She makes time to work in her studio, where she paints and sculpts.

Her paintings, drawings and three-dimensional pieces are at once impressionistic, emotive and imbued with a frankness that viewers find refreshing.

She takes her subjects where she finds them: around the farm, literature and art history. This show is a retrospective of a wide-ranging and curious eye.

Linda Glass Ward will be on hand at the opening on Sept. 11 from 7 to 9pm. The exhibit runs from Sept. 11 to Oct. 31.

The Minto Heritage Gallery is located on the top floor of the Harriston Public Library, at 88 Mill Street. Gallery hours are Tuesdays 7 to 9pm, Thursday and Fridays 2 to 4pm and 7 to 9pm, and Saturdays 11am to 1pm.
