PALMERSTON – The Town of Minto, Minto Fire, and All Aboard Palmerston are planning to light up the sky to ring in the new year at the annual Fire and Ice event. This year, the Fire and Ice Family New Year’s Eve celebration will also be a kick-off to the Town of Minto’s 25th anniversary.
The event will be held at the Palmerston arena from 6 to 8pm on Dec. 31 and is set to include a full slate of activities related to the event’s theme.
Inside the arena, visitors can enjoy “the best parts of the winter season,” Minto officials state, with free public skating (pre-registration required), photos with the ice queen and princess and hot chocolate, treats and food by local community groups.
New this year, youngsters can receive free glitter tattoos and enjoy a bubble show (from 6:15 to 6:45pm).
Outside, families can warm up around outdoor firepits, watch a blacksmithing demonstration, and enjoy a meal from Berlin 95 Food Truck.
At 7:30pm a fire show will take place on the arena ice surface and at 8pm revellers can gather outside for a huge fireworks display.
“2023 has been an incredible year and we can’t wait to celebrate with our fellow community members,” says marketing and community development coordinator, Erin Raftis.
“The event wouldn’t be possible without the support of our amazing event sponsor, Blessings to You Centre, as well as the staff and crew at the Town of Minto,” she adds.
