CENTRE WELLINGTON – On Dec. 12, seven Upper Grand District School Board (UGDSB) schools sent 28 teams to Centre Wellington District High School (CWDHS) for the 2023 Special Olympics Guelph Basketball Qualifier. With over 140 athletes from CWDHS, Centre Dufferin District Hight School, Guelph Collegiate Vocational Institute, John F. Ross Collegiate Vocational Institute, Norwell District Secondary School, Orangeville District Secondary School and Wellington Heights Secondary School, playing on five playing courts, the gym at CWDHS was abuzz with excitement all day. Teams included UG Special Olympic Athletes and their Unified Partners. Teams will learn in the coming weeks if they qualified for the provincial Special Olympics Basketball tournament.
