After a long, valiant battle with Frontotemporal Dementia, Fred’s family is saddened to announce his passing on Saturday, December 9th, at the age of 76. He had loving family at his side, in his home for the past 4 ½ years, The Wellington Terrace. Fred is survived by the love of his life and high school sweetheart, Lynn. Loving father of Christine (Perry) and Mark. Proud Grampa of Isabella, Sofia, Tab and Shawna (her G.G.). Cherished brother of Karin (Rob), and Uncle of Krystal. Also fondly remembered by all of Lynn’s family, the Fidler clan. Predeceased by his parents, Erich (1983) and Ruth (1997). Born February 1st, 1947 in Lüdenscheid, Germany, Fred emigrated to Canada with his parents in 1953, at the age of 6 ½. As a young husband, father and foreman, Fred was in the industrial battery business early in his career, which relocated him and his family from Ridgeway (Fort Erie) to the Belwood/Fergus area in 1977. After that, he worked in lead and solder sales, owning/running his own business until health issues prompted his (forced) retirement. Fred valued quality products, service, and excellent customer satisfaction. Honesty, integrity, and tenacity were some of his greatest attributes. Outside of work, Fred was a funny and fun-loving guy, and would do anything for anyone whenever possible. As per Fred’s wishes, cremation has taken place, and there will be no formal service or visitation. The family will celebrate his life at a future time. If interested, donations in Fred’s memory may be made to The Wellington Terrace, or The Alzheimer Society of Canada. “Auf Wiedersehen”, Dad!
