Holiday season starts at museum on Dec. 1

The holiday sea­son here starts with Guelph Civic Museum’s Festive Fam­i­ly Day Dec. 1, from 1 to 4:30pm.
Guests for the afternoon include local storyteller Brad Woods, who entertains at 2pm, educators and their wild bird friends from Wildlife Educa­tion and Environmental Pro­grams, who provide informa­tion throughout the afternoon on how birds adapt to cold weather. Santa Claus will make a special appearance at 2:45pm.
Staff and volunteers are dec­orating, creating crafts, and developing activities for the an­nual event.
Activities include the opening of a display feat­uring gift givers from around the world.
Through­out the afternoon, visitors can explore the muse­um, help decorate a Christmas tree, write a letter to Santa, and participate in hands-on activi­ties found  all over the muse­um.
Following the event, staff invite everyone to take in the festivities at the annual Winter Lights and Music in downtown Guelph. Staff and volunteers will be out once again selling candles .
Gift Givers From Around the World continues through the holidays. Guelph Civic Mu­seum will be open from Dec. 27 to 30 and closed Dec. 24 to 26, and Dec. 31 and Jan. 1. 
The museum is located at 6 Dublin Street South, McCrae House at 108 Water Street.
