WELLINGTON COUNTY — The Children’s Foundation of Guelph and Wellington announced the appointment of Karyn Kirkwood as its new executive director, effective Oct. 2.
“We are fortunate to have Karyn take over this pivotal leadership role,” said chair of the foundation’s board Joe Migliaccio. “We have seen first-hand that Karyn’s skills, experience, and values align seamlessly with our vision.
“Her unwavering commitment to serving children and youth in our community shines through in all her endeavours, and this promotion is a testament to her exceptional work and leadership.”
Kirkwood joined the Children’s Foundation in 2014, bringing over 30 years experience in administration, fundraising and program management. She also has a background working directly with youth as a children’s librarian and storyteller.
During Kirkwood’s tenure at the Foundation, she has served as the program director for three of the core programs; and since 2022, she has played a role in fund development as senior director of development.
Kirkwood also served as interim executive director in 2019. Officials said her contributions over the past nine years have led to an increase in both program outreach and fund development, ensuring sustainable funding and continuous support for children and youth.
“Being chosen as the new executive director of the Children’s Foundation is a tremendous honour. I love the Children’s Foundation and the work that we do to connect kids with what they need to build a brighter future,” Kirkwood said.
“I am excited about the limitless possibilities ahead and very proud to have the opportunity.”
