HOLSTEIN – The 2023 Holstein Agro Expo and Rodeo, presented by Lewis Land and Stock, took place over the July 1 long weekend, in partnership with the Egremont Optimist Club’s Canada Day celebrations in Holstein.
Complete with two full nights of Rawhide Rodeo performances, sheep shearing competition, spinning and weaving demonstrations, an antique tractor display and kids rodeo, proceeds were directed in support of the Louise Marshall Hospital.
This year, the organizing committee dedicated this gift of $10,000 in memory of Wayne Orr.
He was a long-standing and integral member of the Holstein Agro Expo and Rodeo planning committee, and was especially dedicated to the growth of the International Sheep Shearing Competition. He most recently served as co-chair, until he lost his battle with cancer in July 2023. Orr was also a member of the Egremont Optimist Club and a passionate supporter of Cancer Patient Services Corporation.
On hand to accept the donation from the Orr family and the Holstein Agro Expo and Rodeo, was Louise Marshall Hospital Foundation development officer Amy Van Huss.
“We are so grateful for the continued commitment of the planning committee to supporting our local hospital – and for bringing such an exciting and family-oriented event to Holstein and Mount Forest,” said Van Huss.
The 2024 Holstein Agro Expo and Rodeo is scheduled for the weekend of June 28 to 30 and promises to be another fun-filled weekend for the family, organizers state.
