CENTRE WELLINGTON –The Fergus Grand Theatre presents Canadian Country Music Awards-nominated country artist and TikTok comedy sensation Rory Gardiner on Nov. 17 at 8pm.
After a tornado wiped out his neighbourhood, Rory Gardiner started making funny videos to give his family and neighbours something to smile about.
His first video went viral and eventually led to a TEDx talk.
When the world went into lockdown, he amplified that humour virally to the rest of the world through TikTok and other platforms.
“I first saw Rory when he faced a really tough crowd,” says Fergus Grand theatre coordinator Eric Goudie.
“Not only did he break through to them, he did it as soon as he walked on stage, and he kept everyone in stitches until he took his bow at the end. He is an incredible performer.”
Gardiner has shared the stage with a number of great country acts including Keith Urban, and is a regular on reality shows on County Music Television.
As a stand-up comedian, his TikTok videos have over 50 million views and his YouTube sketches have been featured on Funny or Die and America’s Funniest Videos.
In his show Tornado Troubles, audiences are treated to original songs on the subjects of what Gardiner has learned by almost losing his family in a natural disaster, as well as modern day problems of someone in their 30’s-40’s navigating kids and marriage through a pandemic and beyond.
His engaging one-man show has been described as “a hilariously musical TED Talk on steroids.”
This show is the second mainstage offering in the Fergus Grand Theatre’s 2023-2024 presenting series.
Tickets are $35 each, and are available by calling the box office at 519-787-1981, or online at fergusgrandtheatre.ca.
